A year ago Karl Lagerfeld died, the designer was 85 years old.The Kaiser of the catwalks has disappeared in Paris. Born in Hamburg, he linked his name to the rebirth and revival of Chanel. But also of the Italian brand Fendi. The baton passes to Virginie Viard, the designer's historic right arm\n\nFollowing health complications in January 2019, Lagerfeld was admitted to the American Hospital of Paris in Parisian suburb Neuilly-sur-Seine on 18 February. He died there the following morning from complications of pancreatic cancer.\nAlmost a year has passed since the death of Karl Lagerfeld who left an indelible memory in the friends and colleagues of Chanel, Fendi and the brand of the designer KL.\nKarl Lagerfeld has given vent to his creativity in various artistic fields, such as illustration, styling and publishing, up to the world of photography.\nTo mark the anniversary, an intimate biography, Kaiser Karl: The Life of Karl Lagerfeld by Raphaelle Bacque, was given its first English print earlier this month (it was a bestseller in France when it was released there a few month after his death.)\n\nFrench-born Bacque left no stone unturned during her research of the king of fashion, who was known for his trademark dark glasses, high starched collars and his eye for luxury.\nThe investigative journalist reached out to confidants and colleagues including Caroline of Monaco, perfumer Jacques Polge, Kering founder Francois Pinault and his bodyguard and right-hand man Sebastien Jondeau.
